What is the difference between resistive and capacitive touch?

A resistive touchscreen is a touch-sensitive computer display composed of two flexible sheets coated with a resistive material and separated by an air gap or microdots. The flexible sheets, or metallic layers, contain electrodes, which make contact with each other when pressed together. Since the touchscreen responds to pressure on its surface, contact can be made with a finger, stylus, or any other pointing device.

A capacitive touch screen is a touch-sensitive computer display composed of two spaced layers of glass, which are coated with a conductor. A capacitive touch screensenses the conductive properties of an object, usually the skin on afingertip. Since it doesn’t rely on pressure, it is generally more responsive than a resistive screen for swiping and pinching. Capacitive touchscreens do not respond to touches with a regular stylus, gloved fingers or most other objects.

What are 1D and 2D barcode scanners?

A 1D barcode scanner reads the varied widths and spaces between parallel lines to gather data. Each barcode systematically represents data relating to the object to which the barcode is attached. A UPC (Universal Product Code) is an example of a 1D barcode.

A 2D barcode scanner reads rectangles, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns in two dimensions (2D). Each barcode systematically represents data relating to the object to which the barcode is attached.A 2D barcode is commonly referred to as a QR Code.

What is HazLoc/C1D2 certification?
HazLoc stands for Hazardous Locations and a Class 1, Division 2 (C1D2) certification on a device ensures it will not ignite in explosive atmospheres where gases may have accidentally entered the atmosphere. It meets regulatory compliance for use in industries such as oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, pharmaceutical, and others where ignitable gasses or vapor may be present.

    What does 802.11 a/b/g/nrefer to?

This designation came from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which created the standard for WiFi technology in 1997 that all wireless routers must follow. The extensions a, b, g, n were the names of subsequent enhancements to the original 802.11 release.

    • 802.11 a - Wireless A was primarily used by devices for businessespurposes and not often used for home routers.
    • 802.11 b - Routers with only Wireless B are no longer manufactured, but some newer routers still support it. Wireless B supports a maximum transfer rate of 11mbpsand operates at a 2.4GHz frequency range.
    • 802.11 g - Wireless G supports a maximum transfer rate of 54mbps and operates at a 2.4GHz frequency range.
    • 802.11 n - Wireless N supports a maximum transfer rate of 54 mbps to 600mbps, and operates at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Wireless N devices can operate on multiple signals.
What is Windows Embedded 8.0 Standard and how is it different from Windows 8.0?

Windows Embedded 8.0 Standard is a componentized version of the Windows 8.0,designed for enterprise and industrial use, allowing customization of only the components of Windows 8.0 needed for the application. It also includes additional features such as lockdown features (Embedded Lockdown Manager, write filter, keyboard filter, dialog filter, etc), and custom branding.

What is RFID? What is the difference between LF RFID and HF RFID?
    • Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is an electronic label used to identify items. This type of data collection technology uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag is called an electronic labelor transponder, and is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna. RFID tags identify items, butunlike barcodes, the RFID tag does not require line of sight and can be embedded. Depending on the type of tag and application, they can typically be read at varying distances and many times faster than barcodes.
    • LF RFID is a low frequency RFID, it has a shorter read range (up to 10cm) and slower data read rate, but offers increased capabilities for reading on metal or liquid surfaces. It is also less sensitive to radio wave interference.
    • HF RFID is a high frequency RFID that generally has faster data transfer rates and longer read ranges than lower frequency systems, but it can be more sensitive to radio wave interference caused by liquids and metals in the environment.
What's the difference between NFC and RFID(HF)?
Near Field Communication (NFC) is an extension of High Frequency (HF)RFID standards and operates at 13.56 MHz.Similar to RFID, it offers one-way communication and the ability to communicate without a direct line of sight. NFC is limited to singular and close-proximity interactions, such as accepting mobile payments. Unlike RFID, NFC is also capable of two-way communication and can be used for more complex interactions such as peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing.
    What is MIL-STD-810?
MIL-STD-810 are United States Military testing standards designed that indicate how equipment will perform in harsh environments during its operational lifetime. Devices with the MIL-STD-810 certification have passed specific tests such as performing in extreme temperatures, humidity, sand and dust, vibrations, shock, and water immersion, among others.
    What is IP65?
IP65is a type of electrical enclosure offering complete protection against particles and water.IP stands for Ingress Protection (meaning protection from the access or entrance of specific solids and liquids) and the number 65 relates to the ingress protection against dust (6 means it has no ingress of dust) and water (5 means it is protected against water jets).
What is the difference between rugged and ultra rugged?
Both are built to withstand the rigors of harsh environments – extreme temperatures, shock, dust, water, vibration – however our ultra rugged tablets feature an aluminum/magnesium alloy housing with protective rubber. The ultra rugged tablets also feature resistive-touch touchscreens where the rugged tablets offer capacitive-touch touchscreens.
What is the difference between Winmate's Panel PC and Display?
Our Panel PC's ship with an operating system embedded where the displays are meant to plug into an existing system.
